Let's Rib It Out

I have heard of this place really many many times. Some said it even can beat The Ribs in Penang. And some even said, nothing evaluates to these ribs served over here. Hence, I will say why not….

I was in fact looking forward for this place for almost 1 month. Last month, we could not make it as Mr. Rain had bunged and said hello….
I was eventually dreaming of this place though…hahhaha

When we arrived, it was already 7somthing. Almost dark. It was this BIG banner that engrossed us to this place. It claimed; Chicago Ribs, World Famous Ribs and Steaks…Sorry, the quality not that good as my camera is just ‘pa-ria’ hahhahha...The restaurant itself was very cozy. We were the very 1st customer of that evening. The staffs were dressed in BLACK, well-matched with the surroundings. You can see many wordings there where ultimately it was promoting their goodness….Can you guess what's in this?? Hahhaaa….it’s the gigantic knife and the fork….For me, I have ordered this Pineapple Sunrise, where chunkies of pineapples and apples were blended and jumble with this soda water. It taste like the detergent at 1st, but as you taste more, you will actually hunger for it as it really quenced the thirst. For hubby, he ordered this mineral water…..
Hubby: I can have this bottled of water in 90cents –la…hahhahaHere comes our most dream-about dish. Their signature dish, the pork ribs. At 1st bite, the sauces were so rich and the meat was so damn tender. We were quite surprised too. Anyhow, the more we eat, the chewier it got. And the sauce, was it us that slurp up ALL the sauce too fast or was it too little?? Indeed, we found out that the sauce was only brushed on the surface, that’s why, it vanish so fast…Indeed, we felt that the ribs served in ‘The Ribs’ itself is much better. No doubt, the smashed potato was really good.

Next was the oven baked pizza. This is the BBQ chicken pizza... The cheessy feeling was really unbearable, till I barely taste the BBQ chicken cubes as it was covered with loads of cheese.

Overall, I will say you may visit this restaurant as long as you had sturdy teeth and crave for cheessy thingy.

Spice Up

That day, we have a hasty crush to have some ‘kick’ of the food. Hence, we choose Palace De India for that meticulous kick… hahhahaa

This Palace De India serves truly Indian Food. Located on the corner of the 3rd floor of the Queensbay Mall, the place was bedecked with a touch of Indian zephyr. The whole place was indeed in RED and it was embellished with a tanglung-alike trait. The trait was hung with loads of hand made soft toys of elephant and birdies. You can even scent the Indian odor there…hahhahaaWe were acknowledged warmly by the staff there. My Ceejay got so agitated when we were seated nearby the window. With me, was my mum, Sis, hubby & my nephew Ceejay.
For starter, we were given the very prominent ‘Pompadom’…not sure if my spelling correct or not….hhahhaha
The ‘Pompadom’ is a kind of snack for the Indians who love it so much as they were crispy and scrumptious itself. Served with their special sauce, Mint-Corriander Chutney, the dipping sauce from combination of mint and coriander, garlic and ginger and some chillies blended in a perfect way. Hubby decides to try on the most talkabout drink, the Mango Lassi. It was the mango blended with the yogurt itself. I found it too sweet and the yogurt was indeed too strong for me. For Sis, she had what they claimed as Mumbai Coffee. When I have a sip, the taste was like the the Yin-Yeong feeling…. Yin Yeong is where you mixed tea and coffee together. Not bad at all

Here comes our snack. This was called the Vegetable Podka, where different types of vegetables were cut in stripes, e.g. potato, capsicum and carrot. All veges were deep-fry in special mix of batter where you can taste a flavorful hint of spices.
Next came was the Chicken Chettinad. This was so called the Chettiar chicken style, rich in 16 spices accordingly. They add handful of black pepper where it was so HOT and yet so GOOD….hahhaha
Then it was the Fish Masala, highly recommended by the staff there. The main spice of this is the masala preserved well in the fish. This fiery hot masala paste has its home in Goa. And believe me…it’s really flaming HOT…
Next, was the Vindaloo Squids. The squids were cook tenderly in the spicy red gravy. As I knew, this ‘Vindaloo’ spice was authentically from Western Indian coast. It is another type of masala used broadly in chicken and pork and also in squids. This curry blaze my tongue the most…but it worth all the sweats and tears…
To accompany my yummy dish, we have ordered some Plain Biryani and some Naan.
Biryani rice was normally made from Basmati rice where you will find the richness of spice within the rice. It savors so fine that you can even eat on its own…hhahhaa why do I sound like Gardenia Bread advertisment?? Hahhahhaa
The Plain Naan and the Onion Naan was not frail at all. For those who are watching seriously on their body and indeed calculating each calorie they consume, you should opt for this. Made from thick wheat flour and it was baked from heat within. Yup…no FAT at all!!
These Naans were so gracious with all the dish that I have ordered just now. GREAT!!
Overall, I will recommend this place to all those fans out there.
Cheers

Romantic Diner at Vintage Bulgaria

21-Oct-08, was one of our very special day. We become an item on 21-Feb, hence we decided to give a small celebration on each of the month, as the reminiscence of that very special day…

Hubby had decided to take me to Chicago Rib at Autocity…somehow the rain stop us from being there…
Sigh…

Remembering there’s a blog about this Bulgarian restaurant at Tanjung bunga, we decided to give it a try…just don’t let me down, ok??

That night, the sky was still pouring heavily beneath. Around 8pm, we finally found the place. It was just next to Ingolf restaurant, the very eminent German retaurant…that served best German sausages… so far

The signboards itself already sky high itself. With spotlight dimmering, you can see the huge signboard written as the Vintage Bulgaria. Inside was a very simpe-and-yet-cozy restaurant itself…

We were greeted warmly by a lady. We were betting that this was the lady of the house.
Taken to the corner of the house, located just next to the cashier, we can see that the place was already crammed with customer.

Firstly, we were served with 2pcs of warmed wholemeal bun. The warmness of the bun somehow melted the butter which we spread generously just now, the bun just taste splendid!!

Next in our ordered list, was the Chicken soup Bulgarian style. When the attendant put them in front of me, I was thinking, “Oh oh….this soup SURE looks creamy enough”….
However, to my surprise, it was not CREAMY at all. It was taste as the chicken soup which my mum alwis cooked for us….
With bits of chicken dice and some bits of vermicili, it was like eating the chicken soup with vermicilli ala oriental…Hhahahhaha
Cool…Next come the model, The Russian Salad. Chopped hard-boiled potato mixed with chunks of ham and some diced carrot to dress up, these ingredients were mixed well in big serving of mayo. It was so mouth-watering until you can’t help it to stop it…
No doubt, we can’t take much as the mayo is really killing….hahhahaa

Then, the most suggested Garlic bread with cheese appears. This bread were very interesting where on 1 side of the bread, was the rich garlic butter and on the other side, was the melted mozzarella cheese….
Ohhh lallaa….
Our main course was the last, and yet is the BEST I can ever said… This was called the Pork chop in Bulgarian style…
Oh My Goshhh….never in my life that I have tasted such a GOOD pork chop. The usual that we have, it had been grilled in high temperature and the meat end up to be fibrous and it takes centuries to gulp the meat down our throat.
Over here, the meat was perfectly grilled. It was so just right until you can feel the juiciness is squeezing out within when you gnaw them…It does not taste like any usual-pork-chop at all
Hehheee....Ah B 'tam chiak' look

This place is HIGHLY recommended for those whho looking for something unique to snack on…
Believe me, as I WILL BE BACK.

Dim Sum in EQ

Last 2weeks, my family and I went to this Dim Sum at EQ Hotel situated at Bukit Jambul. We have heard that they served fine Dim Sum, so we decided to give a try.
Moreover, it’s my sister’s turn to foot us the bill….hahahhaa…so…why not??

This place was called the Golden Phoenix.

The place only opens for bussiness at 10am. After paying for RM4 in the carpark, (which is very not cheap…just in case you guys did not know, rememeber to take along the receipt given. After you paid for the food, you are entitled to claim back the parking fees…which we forgot….so we gotto paid them ourselves…… sigh**

On our way, there’s huge notice board advertising Dim Sum in the restaurant that we are going….You can see loads yum yum pictures of Dim Sum….Cooolll
Too much to tell…so I will let you know a few….
This place was decked out as the classic type of Chinese restaurant where you will see dragons statue and enclosed with RED color. Somehow the Chinese believed that Red means ‘Ong’….which means can bring good fortune….LOL

We were greeted courteously by the manager there & bring us to our seat…
Then, we started glimpsed through the menu and everything looks good…. Without knowing it, we have been picking for more than 10types of the Dim Sum….How I wonder will they taste as good as it looks?

First came was my mum most favorite dish. The Century Egg Porridge. The porridge was amazingly smooth and with heady scent of the spring onion & lots of shredded ginger….
Woww…
Next was my elder sis’s favorite, Steamed Rice Flour Rolls a.ka. Chee Cheung Fun. These rolls were made of rice flour mixture. 1st, they will poured the mixture to the steamer on top of a white cloth. Then, they sprinkle generous of prawns onto the mixture…
Then, they removed the mixture out from the cloth gracefully and served with sweet soya sauce accompanied with some tangy home made sambal. (Sambal is a fusion of chilies and blended with dried prawns)… Nice...
Char Siew So or you can called it as BBQ pork in crispy pastry. Just look at the picture you can see how crisp this could be….LOL. And the ingredients inside….the sweetness & the spices of the BBQ pork really lip smacking...

Next, was the Deep Fried Wantan. Normally, you can eat this ‘wantan’ or better known as dumplings either you poached them or simmer them. This was quite diferent as you can see chunky of prawns were wrapped in this dumpling skin & deep fried until golden brown. Beware when served, as this could burn your mouth….
Then, came was my Daddy’s favorite…. He used to say that when going for Dim Sum, only this dish alone can make you occupied for whole day….and he was right…
‘Pau’ was something similar like the bread, or maybe you can say this is the Chinsese bread……LOL…
A good ‘pau’ must be fluffy enough on the outside & the fillings (BBQ pork) must be tasty enough on the inside…
But I just don’t like tat much of the ‘pau’ here as they put some basils leaves on it…Sorry..just not my type…
Har Kau and Siew Mai (Steamed Dumplings)

Both dish above were the common signature of Dim Sum. Without them, is like missing something….hahhaha
I guess there’s not much to said about them as well. Both dish serves well over here as well

This was also my mum’s fav. We called them stuffed vege with fish paste. Vegetables like tofu, brinjal & green chillies were puffed up liberally with the freshly made fish paste….
After deep fried them, they were put on some ‘tauchu’ sauce graciously…. You just can’t help to have second bite…
We called this Lo Mai Fan or in a better way, it is called steamed savoury Glutinous Rice. If my nephew, CeeJay was here, he will sure gulp this ALL up….hhaahhaa. The tenderness of the rice was just nice. Mixed with bits of dried prawns and diced shitake mushroom, this added richness of the dish….Nice….
Creamy Peanut Butter Dessert a.k.a Fa sang Wu
Last, was 1 of my favorite dessert. The Peanut broth. They blended the peanuts finely & mixed with fresh milk & cook until both item mixed finely & creating the milkiness within……
Two thumbs up
